Audubon
Banquet
Dinner by Guzzetti's Catering
The
always-popular Saturday evening Banquet & Silent Auction returns.
Come enjoy live music and an entertaining impersonation of the preeminent
19th century naturalist and painter of birds, John James Audubon.
Actor/writer David Giesen brings the French-born chronicler of America's
birds to life in a one-man show that reveals Audubon's eloquence, enthusiasm
and struggle to shed light on the wonders of the American wilderness.
Audubon (1785-1851) ranks with John Muir and Henry David Thoreau as
a spokesman for the spirit of humanity as modeled in the great outdoors.
Chico
Masonic Family Center - Cost $24/per person
A slide presentation of many of Audubon's finest paintings and engravings
concludes the evening. A special note about another community program
that coincides with our glimpse into Audubons world: The Chico
Museum, 141 Salem Street, is featuring an exhibit of the works of Andrew
Jackson Grayson, who has been called the Audubon of the West.
The exhibit is on display from Dec. 18, 2002 through Feb. 7, 2003. The
museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 12 to 4 p.m. Admission
is free, though donations are gladly accepted.
