Description

Come hear some of the highlights of the past and present projects of the California Conservation Corps (CCC). The contributions of the staff and these young men and women benefit our state and local area by protecting and restoring the environment every day they go to work. Then we’ll drive to the Howard Slough Unit of the Upper Butte Basin Wildlife area for a walk through various kinds of habitats. Restoration of this area by the CCC’s is considered one of the finest wetland complexes in North America with a network of sloughs, channels and oak woodlands. In addition to the usual wetland waterfowl, we’ll look for riparian and woodland species, including raptors.
